I own several kayaks from Pelican, including this model, and I must say that it is a good kayak for beginners. It has a wider base for more stability and is not as likely to capsize if you are knew to balancing on a kayak. The multiple footrests allow you to find the position that is most comfortable for you without having to reach down and move a rail-mounted footrest like on some other kayaks. The rear storage area is a good place to stash a cooler for food, drinks, or even live bait if you go fishing, and the dry storage area allows you to take a cellphone, your I.D. and your fishing/hunting permit without worrying about water getting to them and causing damage. Overall a good kayak for anyone, but especially good for beginners.
