About Old Town
Old Town has a long tradition of innovative technology, dating back to 1898, when the company built its first wood-and-canvas canoe, based on a Native American birch bark design. In 1940, the company rendered the traditional seal-skin kayak design in more durable wood-and-canvas, and later introduced lightweight fiberglass models in the '50s.
Today, Old Town continually strives to advance the art of paddling through design improvements and lighter, more durable materials, such as three-layer polyethylene and Superlinear technologies.

I knew what I wanted, and did my research. I wanted a fishing kayak, one that was a little shorter, that I could easily hoist on my shoulder, and walk a decent distance without killing myself. I am 6", 225 lbs, and slightly bulging in the middle. and I also needed one that would be able to accommodate me as well as whatever I need, according to what I am doing. When this kayak arrived I was impressed at the workmanship and overall quality upon getting it out on the water I am simply amazed. The cockpit is spacious and easy to get into. The dashboard with cup holder and two cavities were very well spaced, with the lowest part of the wall going into the cockpit (if something drops, it will probably drop into the cockpit.) I was so comfortable that I spent large portions of the day just sitting, watching my bobber do absolutely nothing, and feeling no ill will about it. At first I was a little unsteady, had not been in a kayak in 7 years or so. After a little time I was gliding smoothly,...

My Old Town Vapor 10 is awsome. I am new to kayaking and test drove both a sit in and a sit on top before making my purchase. I love the openness of the sit on but the warmth of the sit in. I decided on this kayak because of the open cockpit and I do not regret it at all. It's like having a little of both types of kayaks. It is closed in enough that I stay warm in the cooler temps and is open enough to be able to feel the air circulating around me. I am able to recline back and put my feet up on top when I've been sitting too long for my legs. It's very easy to reposition myself whenever I want to. The only thing I would change is the molded paddle rest is too far forward to be comfortable for me. I am 5'3" so I have a shorter reach. I also weigh 210 lbs and still I do not sit down in the water very deeply. I use it for photography and it is very stable and tracks well. It is very comfortable and I can spend the whole day just putting around the edges of lakes shooting nature but when...

I am over 6' and around 200lbs. The seating was comfortable and roomy. (For long trips I do add a cushion) I can actually stretch out my legs completely or use the foot rests for a little more power. Room for more than enough fishing gear. Fairly stable for a kayak. The paddle rest comes in handy when I reach back for anchor adjustment or to get items out of the day well. It handles speed boat waves very well. I have always been impressed at the room for my large frame. Only one little drawback, I thought the thigh pads should be moved forward or made longer. I am saving money to buy on for my son.
