Fun on the lake, in the river, June 9, 2011
This review is from: Lifetime Kayak (Blue, 8-Feet) (Sports)
I'm a big boy 220, 5'8", with a terrier who hates water. This thing is almost unable to flip, but somehow the dog figured it out. Easy to remount in water over your head. Haven't tried the ocean yet but I got a sail from the lifetime.com website made especially for it. Memorial Day on the lake has shown me a preview of possible issues, you need to keep your bow perpendicular to large waves,or it can get a bit unstable. My nephew loved it as well. He was all over the place. On the river, this is good in class 1 and 2 rapid but when you start to get to a 3, it's best that you walk with it a bit. At 60 lbs, it's not heavy, but it is bulky and can get tight in heavily wooded shores. Easy to mount on the top of my Corolla. 10 minutes from shed to roof with the Sherpak Dlxe Universal No-Skid Kayak Kit (22 -inch) I got on this site. Easy to travel long distances with it on the roof.

The wife and I both own one of these. Other than the tracking thing (they dont track at all because of the "flat" bottom) these are great beginner boats. I have purposefully tried to tip mine by rocking back and forth and throwing my weight to the side and so far I havent been able to tip one while sitting in it. Contrary to another reviewer here, you ARE sitting pretty much with your rear end at water level. Not sure how anyone could be sitting higher than that unless they brought a lawn chair along to sit on when on the boat. If you dont have to have a kayak with good tracking, but just want to have some safe water fun and dont want to have to worry about tipping over, this is your kayak. If you are a serious kayaker, dont waste your money because these dont track at all and you'll be returning it pronto. 5 stars for what it is. A fun little 'kayak' to hang out on the lake or creek with.

just a fun kayak, October 31, 2011
This review is from: Lifetime Kayak (Blue, 8-Feet) (Sports)
Took my 8 ft. kayak out for the first time. Lots of fun and very stable and I found it fun to fish off of. I have a sit in kayak that tracks and is more for speed, but keep in mind, a sit in kayak tips over easily. Too different kayaks for different areas of enjoyment. The 8 foot slides right in the back of my highlander. The sit in kayak has to go on top on a rack. My only problem is that I didn't get my kayak with back support seat. ordering a seat soon.
